Our Triumphant Return

Posted by: The Mad Crafterix   in Updates

We have been bedeviled by a myriad of aethernet issues, ranging from incooperative hosts to a particularly recalcitrant communication issue with iTunes. But I have good news, dear reader. I have managed to hammer all of our little gremlins into submission, and we will be resuming regular transmissions within the week!

In the meantime, if you are of age and of sturdy disposition, I invite you to listen to “A Heart of Hammered Brass” at Erotica a la Carte. Be forewarned, this is not a story for youngsters. Nor is it a tale for those who might be scandalized by impropriety or, indeed, lasciviousness.

Look for a new transmission from the crew of the H.M.S. Astrolabe quite soon!

SteamPunk Spectacular The Sixth

Posted by: The Mad Crafterix   in News, Podcast

This transmission brings you an assortment of oddments, including a sartorial and historical lesson from Sir Brandon Fitzroy Hill, Master of Blades and Hats; and, notably, a partial reconstruction of a most educational conversation with Jake Von Slatt himself ( I am quite hopeful that the rest of that Maurice will be successful in rescuing the rest of that conversation from the damaged communication cylinder). As always, Correspondent Chris Fisher provides the latest in happenings both corporeal and virtual — notations are below.

Be sure to check back with us when we make port again at the beginning of November! Read the rest of this entry »

Essays

Posted by: The Mad Crafterix   in Uncategorized

For your amusement and edification, please allow me to present a pair of aethernet essays on the nature of Steampunk.

The first is from Stephen H. Segal’s recent column on Fantasy Magazine.

And I would be extremely remiss if I did not point you towards the words of Bruce Sterling himself in a post on GOGBOT.

SteamPunk Spectacular The Fourth

Posted by: admin   in Podcast, Updates

Greetings, long lost friends! The HMS Astrolabe makes port once again, after and extended journey to exotic parts. Correspondent Chris Fisher has all kinds of steamy news, The Archivist Matt Wallace brings us some more lessons of an interesting nature, and you just might have the opportunity to meet one of the other members of our rather motley band of travelers.

If perchance you are attending the festivities known as DragonCon, keep a wary eye out. Correspondent Chris Fisher and I will be skulking about, and we would be delighted to make your acquaintance.

I do apologize for the lack of show notes for this episode. The crew of the HMS Astrolabe is grateful to have made port at all, and while I do hope to be able to post notations for your edification, it is of utmost importance that I join my crew for a spot of much-needed Rest and Recreation.
